About Richard: Richard established Richard Taylor Effects Ltd. in 1987 in the back room of his flat with partner Tania Roger, providing special effects and puppet work for numerous clients. After being joined in 1994 by Jamie Selrick and Peter Jackson, the company took on the name 'Weta'.
Weta Workshop produced all the cutting edge computer effects for the Lord of the Rings trilogy, and more recently King Kong and the Chronicles of Narnia. For Lord of the Rings, Weta Workshop provided all the onset operation of weapons, armour, creatures, special make up effects and the construction of miniature models. For a company to take on so many departments on a single feature, let alone a trilogy is almost unheard of. Through this mammoth project, Weta gained worldwide praise including five BAFTAs and six Academy Awards to date.
