Is One Square Meal safe for pregnant or breastfeeding mums to eat?

One Square Meal is a very balanced convenient food and I can see it's appeal for women who are pregnant or lactating. It was designed to be a healthy balanced meal replacement meeting the needs of the average person as part of a varied diet, variety and balance being the keys to good nutrition. It contains a third of an average person's RDA for energy, protein, carbohydrate, fat, dietary fibre and 16 key vitamins and minerals. Most of these 16 vitamins and minerals are naturally present at or near one third of the RDA but we have topped up the levels of 10 of them to ensure we have at least a third of the RDA for these vitamins and mineral in One Square Meal up to the end of it's best before date.

Pregnant or lactating women have different nutritional requirements to the average population in terms of protein and energy requirements and must be careful not to overdo their intake of fat soluble vitamins such as vitamin A.

The Ministry of Health recommend that pregnant and breastfeeding women choose a variety of foods from the four main food groups to meet their nutritional requirements. This is great advise. One Square Meal may be suitable for occassional use by pregnant and breastfeeding women as part of a balanced diet but because it has been fortified with some vitamins and minerals we recommend you consult with a dietitian or your Lead Maternity Carer prior to use.
